Julius Caesar is an alternative project space located in the Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL. It will celebrate its 5th year of existence. In that time Julius Caesar has held 57 exhibitions. Some recent graduate students from The School of the Art Institute started the space in 2008. It was started as a place for the members of the Julius Caesar group to show case their own work and some of their friends. Since then the members have changed with the exception of Dana Degiulio. It has also expanded its ability to hold within itself a much larger conversation. The gallery is most recently co-run by the artists Dana Degiulio and Min Song who joined the group about a year ago. Today I have interviewed Dana the longest running member starting from the very beginning of Julius Caesar. This will be a conversation about the most recent changes to Julius Caesar and also what is in store for the next five years.
